MCR Computer Officer - Tony Harris

The Computer Officer takes charge of the graduate email list and has primary responsibility for this website. The latter responsibility is particularly important as the site provides a wealth of up-to-date information for applicants and freshers as well as the vital sign-up facility for MCR events.

Tony Harris is a mature student working on a PhD on medieval chronology (more specifically the date of Easter between the 6th and the 11th centuries). He is attached to the Anglo Saxon Norse and Celtic department here at Cambridge and is currently writing up.

Before coming to Cambridge, Tony was at Oxford where he read English, also as a mature student, and later did an MA in Medieval Studies at the University of Reading at the Graduate Centre for Medieval Studies. Prior to moving to the 'dark side' of medievalism, Tony was a computer scientist for more years than he cares to remember. He gets his computer 'fixes' these days by managing the MCR website (and lots of other websites). If you need authenticating to the website for events bookings and/or the MCR mailing list then do contact Tony and he will do his best to help.

Tony believes that there is no sport (worth mentioning) other than the sport of rowing. He rowed while he was at Oxford and was on the Oxford University Rowing Clubs (OURCs) committee (equivalent to our CUCBC) while there. He also coached Corpus Christi Ladies and Regent's Park College first eight. While at Cambridge he coached Sidney Sussex Men's First Eight in the first year of his PhD and passed his national rowing umpire exams. He is a member of the Henley Stewards Enclosure, and Leander Club, and is also the Treasurer of the Fuller's Fours Head Race which happens every November on the tideway.
